Opening a new box is always a highlight for a player, especially when melancholy is part of the material. Whether you are flirting with your thirties or are already behind you, the Proustian fragrances will take hold of your mind for a nostalgic stay!
It is difficult to innovate in a genre already well exploited by major titles but if Saint Seiya does not revolutionize the deckbuilding, it will know, in many ways, to find its place on the playful tables.
A deckbuilding has the peculiarity of offering nervous gameplay as well as an astronomical amount of combinations. Saint Seiya, being no exception to the rule, is adorned with some original specificities.
During the game, each player plays one of the five heroes of the famous Kurumada saga for a fierce fight. Whoever has the most precious victory points before the last flame of the clock is extinguished will have the gratitude of Athena!
After having prepared his game, composed of 15 cards and set up the field (standard game mats where the cards scroll) the active player performs the two phases of his game turn.
During this phase, the player can do different actions :
– Playing characters: it is possible to play as many characters from your hand in front of a map of the land you want to acquire.
Cards are bought in two different ways :
– By paying its cost in Force: the card thus won goes directly into the player’s defeat
– By paying its cost of Cosmos: the card immediately reaches the player’s hand and can, therefore, be played at this turn.
Each map used to acquire a map of land is then unpacked.
End of Game
The clock, counting the towers of the game, is made up of 12 magnetized flames. Each time a card with a flame is purchased by a player, a flame is removed from the clock. When the last flame goes out, the game ends to count the victory points.
It is, therefore, crucial to monitor the remaining play time in order not to be surprised by an early end!
Players then add up the points on the purchased cards and check whether the conditions of the combinations formed during the game are met to score more.
Saint Seiya succeeds in the tour de force to inject a classic touch to a deck building, acquiring strong playability so much the combos are present. The feeling of Ascent will quickly enthuse the players who will be able to count on a very good fluidity to follow the games from 2 to 5 Heroes!
At the service of the title, the material, with its faithful illustrations, its original turn counter and it’s quality carpet, pay a sincere tribute to the Japanese work and the melancholy of the first hour!
Amun Re is a game by the famous author Reiner Knizia to whom one owes many successes such as “the race to the Eldorado”, “Schotten Totten”, “Tiger and Euphrates”, etc. a reputation that is no longer to be demonstrated, and moreover Amun Re will be many times nominated in the best play prizes like the Spiel des Jahres, the international Gamers awards or the Tric Trac d’ Or.
There was only one step for Super Meeple to decide to make a great reissue, which they did! They could have left it at that, but they’re adding the map version. A lighter version, but which preserves all the flavors of the mechanisms of the translation.
