The best video games of 2019

While the year 2019 will be marked by the announcement of the succession of the PS4 and Xbox One consoles, the latter begin their swan song with the arrival of the last big hits of their ludothèque. At the same time, Switch is building on its success two years after its launch.

To make sure you make the right choice in the video games Department, here is our chart of titles not to be missed. Don’t forget that a great deal of them also got their slot version and are available in many top-rated online casinos. My personal recommendation: keep an eye of the LeoVegas Casino free spins bonus. It is great one and it is compatible with many of the most popular slot games. This top will be updated throughout the year.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Synonymous with assassins, spies, and masters in the art of stealth, the ninjas have built their legend in secret. Hidden Artisans of Japanese history, they are at the heart of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a new game by the creators of the sublime Dark Souls trilogy (2011-2016). Available tomorrow on consoles and PC, the title of studio From Software invites you to play The Wolf, a brilliant shinobi with a mysterious mechanical arm.

Projected into medieval Japan in the 15th century, this man, capable of returning from the dead, must find the trace of a child kidnapped by warlords. Applauded for his previous work, From Software promises a game of action and intense infiltration, served by an atmosphere worthy of Japanese saber films. Katana in hand, the players, should find in Sekiro a wild and bloody work. Without a doubt, the game of the year for gamers who love tough challenges.

Devil May Cry 5

Tough job as Demon Hunter. An often thankless task that the various heroes of The Devil May Cry saga have been working on with passion and style since 2001. The series, which had defined the codes of the action game, returns this month with an impressive fifth canonical opus. Around the trio of the savior of humanity that is Dante, Nero, and V, the player is invited to resume his path towards the underworld to fight with his tenants, always reluctant to defend peace and love. It is, therefore, with the use of swords and magical powers that we must say goodbye to them.

Once again focused on nervous gameplay full of special effects, DMC 5 impresses first of all by its Gothic and rock’s roll. The cool attitude of his three superpowered heroes always has its effect, and this trip to put the devil in his place remains enjoyable.

Metro Exodus

By launching his literary saga Metro in 2005, Russian writer Dmitry Glukhovsky has been able to found epic mythology around a post-apocalyptic world. Brought on consoles and PC by studio 4A Games, the franchise is back in a third opus called Metro Exodus. An episode that escapes from the claustrophobic universe to which the previous titles had accustomed us, to send its hero Artyom and his comrades to travel the territory of Mother Russia, ravaged by radiation and mutants.

In this new shooting game, it is always a question of survival, and the atmosphere is even more visceral. Over nearly 30 hours, 4A Games unfolds a horrific story that never lets go of the player, immersed in a universe of rust and snow. The stress remains omnipresent and any exit in this hostile world forces to count its ammunition and to manage its survival equipment with parsimony, in front of a bestiary without any mercy. Graphically stunning and credible, Metro Exodus invites you to take a path without return, a true journey to the end of hell.

A Plague Tale: Innocence

Ravaged by the Black Death in the 14th century, the kingdom of France and Europe were about to lose 30-50% of their population. Dark years that serve as a historical setting for the game A Plague Tale: Innocence is available on consoles and PC.

This new title features the escape of 14-year-old Amicia and 5-year-old Hugo. Children of the Chevalier de Rune, both are actively sought by the soldiers of the Inquisition.

The latter wish to get their hands on the boy, whose very existence hides a huge secret. It is thus death in a pursuit that the two protagonists will have to venture into the villages and strongholds of the Middle Ages.

Imagined by the Bordeaux studio Asobo, A Plague Tale is an ambitious video game, both in narrative and in its careful realization. His gameplay is based on the progression of this duo. As they travel, they will have to survive the invasion of the rats responsible for the pandemic that is ravaging cities and countryside. Above all, the danger will also come from the soldiers and villagers they encounter. In their desperate runaway, Amicia and Hugo will have to rely on each other and devise various schemes to find their way.

We think of The Last of Us (2013) and God of War (2018), two references to tragic games featuring a tandem of heroes in search of freedom. By working on the historical aspect of his work, Asobo succeeds in touching the players to the heart, thanks to a mature and inspired narrative, reinforced by a mainly accomplished artistic direction.

Kingdom Hearts III

It is, withouta doubt, one of the nicest surprises of the year. Expected since 2013, Kingdom Hearts III keeps all its promises, and assures an almost total enchantment for the gamers. Square Enix here delivers an epic story, in the continuity of the first episodes, featuring its young hero Sora in the Disney Pixar universe. By teaming up with Donald and Dingo, the latter embarks on an adventure worthy of the universes shared by Mickey and his friends, for ninety years. Real virtual amusement park, Kingdom Hearts III takes us, in turn, into the worlds of Rapunzel, The Snow Queen, Toy Story, the new heroes or monsters and Co., with an impressive attention to detail. Supported by an inspired artistic direction and a magnificent orchestration, this game is a fireworks display, worthy of Disneyland. A rich and enchanting rollercoaster.

The Division 2

Washington DC, the day after. As the United States falls under the effect of a pandemic, the American capital is the last bastion of resistance to chaos. Three years after having staged the fall of New York in the first game of The Division (2016), Ubisoft invites players to save what remains of power in this highly anticipated sequel on consoles and PC.

This game of tactical cooperation retains the essence of what made this franchise successful. So we find an adventure that encourages us to play multiplayer online, where we will have to identify and capture areas held by the enemy. Ubisoft teams here unveil an open world of breathtaking visual beauty, transposing Washington DC into a post-apocalyptic world. And it is on these ruins that we will have to carry the starry banner high, to give meaning to the word freedom.

Apex Legends

It’s the star Game of the New Year. With more than tens of millions of downloads, Apex Legends, The New Battle royale of Electronic Arts, could well steal the show from the untouchable Fortnite and its 200 million players counted at the end of 2018. Launched to everyone’s surprise on February 4, this free title created a buzz among the gamers community, offering some welcome novelties in this nascent genre.

Drawn from the world of Titanfall games, where humans and giant robots tear each other apart in a future cyberpunk, Apex invites up to twenty teams of three players each to fight to the death in a vast arena. Its strength is above all to offer characters with their own abilities, with an emphasis on cooperation. Strategic while remaining fun, Apex Legends brings excellent ideas to the battle royale inspired Hunger Games and Overwatch.

Resident Evil 2

Welcome to Raccoon City. A city of unusual charm, with its demolished monuments, its sacked shops, its barricaded police station and its streets… populated by zombies. It is in this creepy atmosphere, inspired by the classic horror movies, that Resident Evil 2 takes place, a survival game that Capcom has just published on consoles and PC. The Japanese publisher here imagines a remake of the same title, released in 1998 under the PlayStation era. A neat graphic redesign Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, the original heroes, are back in service in a new, brilliantly redesigned version.
