In a move that I’m personally happy to see, Penny Arcade has announced a brand new PAX event that will definitely brighten the eyes of gamers everywhere. The company has announced PAX Unplugged, a new convention dedicated to all things tabletop gaming. The event will kick off its inaugural start this November 17th – 19th at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
What can attendees look forward to with PAX Unplugged? Why, the same great stuff that goes on at all the other PAX events: the chance to play and see the reveal of highly-anticipated upcoming games, attend game-inspired music concerts, participate in tournaments and watch panels with industry leaders – but with a renewed focus on fostering the best event for the burgeoning tabletop gaming community.
Jerry Holkins, co-founder, Penny Arcade, said about the event, “With the rise of popularity of board games, we wanted to provide a dedicated space where fans can come together. We will continue to have tabletop games at every PAX, but Unplugged will focus on stepping away from the TV, monitor and phone to foster face-to-face multiplayer experiences.”
The convention will still allow journalists, YouTubers, and Twitch content creators to attend the event to provide coverage of it for media purposes by obtaining a media pass in the Spring. General tickets will go on sale in the Spring as well, according to the event’s press release. You can find more information on the PAX Unplugged site
. This will be yet another great con that’s going to squeeze its way into my schedule and wallet! You can get a head-start on the convention by reserving your hotel room, which you can do right from the PAX Unplugged page, so get on it!
