Paizo Partners with Gen Con for 3 Years, Ultimate Intrigue Released, Mummy’s Mask Comes to the Adventure Card Game

Pathfinder Ultimate Intrigue

Tons of news has come from Paizo this week, publishers of the fan-favored RPG, Pathfinder. For years the company has been a huge supporter of Gen Con, and players come from all around the world to visit the company during the convention. Back in 2013 Paizo entered into a co-sponsorship with Gen Con to support the event for the future. The company has just announced a new co-sponsorship that will now extend through 2018. At Gen Con 2016, Paizo will have a large Exhibit Hall presence, increased on-site branding and marketing, and will continue hosting hundreds of Pathfinder Role Playing Game events in its dedicated space in the Indiana Convention Center’s Sagamore Ballroom.

“Our team is pleased to see Paizo return as a Co-Sponsor,” said Adrian Swartout, CEO/Owner of Gen Con. “It has been amazing to watch their explosive growth over the past several years, and their Pathfinder gaming events are among the most popular and most attended yearly. With more than 14,000 events to choose from at Gen Con, that is quite the accomplishment!”

Paizo also has announced the release of Ultimate Intrigue, a new Pathfinder supplement that introduces a new player class: the vigilante! Endless possibilities for adventure await players in the pages of Ultimate Intrigue, where heroes duel with words instead of steel, plot daring heists, and pit their wills against relentless nemeses. Ultimate Intrigue includes new subsystems, spells, feats, and magic items perfect for skullduggery and high society. The new vigilante class puts players under the mask, with a secret identity mechanic that allows players to take on two distinct personas. There are also new archetypes for alchemists, bards, druids, hunters, inquisitors, investigators, mesmerists, rangers, rogues, slayers, spiritualists, and more. You can pick up your own copy of Ultimate Intrigue for $44.99.

Last, but certainly not the least, Paizo has announced the newest base set for the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Mummy’s Mask. Players will brave terrible guardians, foul cults, and the burning sands of the desert to stop the rebirth of an ancient tyrant in this cooperative strategy game that pits one to four players against the monsters, curses, and traps of the Mummy’s Mask Adventure Path from the Pathfinder roleplaying game. Players will choose their character’s class, build a deck of equipment, magic, and allies, and explore dangerous locations as they journey through an exciting fantasy tale.

PACG Mummys Mask

The Mummy’s Mask base set will include:

  • More than 500 cards, featuring 7 character classes, a wide array of gear and magical treasures, and dozens of allies, monsters, and villains from the Mummy’s Mask storyline
  • The Half-Dead City Adventure Deck
  • A complete set of 5 polyhedral dice

Having played through the Mummy’s Mask Adventure Path, I’m actually excited for this set in the PACG. It will be available in October later this year for $59.99, but you can pre-order it via the Paizo site. I’ve got a hunch that the set will be available in select quantities during Gen Con this year, and we’ll keep an eye out for official word from the company. With all this news coming from Paizo, it’s a great time to be a Pathfinder fan! Which of these announcements are you excited for the most?
