I’ve been an avid gamer for years, but lately I’ve started on a new kick: Kickstarter. I’ve seen some really cool games get funded, and I’ve watched as others reaped the rewards of reaching one stretch-goal after another. I’ve waited not-so-patiently for the boxes to hit store shelves so I could pick up my copy, and I’ve wondered, “Why don’t I just back them when I find them on Kickstarter?”
To be honest, part of why I didn’t was just ignorance. I didn’t really understand how Kickstarter works, or that backers are fully protected if the project flops. But now that I’ve done my homework, I’m backing like a madman, and there are some seriously cool games that need funding right now.
Booze Barons, by Overworld Games, is a social deduction, hidden identity team game that takes place during the prohibition. The art is great, the concept is solid, and these guys have playtested the crap out of this game. If the project is funded by September 19th, I will get my copy of this and another Overworld Games game: New Salem.
Both games look amazing and will serve to feed my addiction to social deduction games like a mound of meeples in a child’s Cannibal Cook Crockpot ™. They never go bad!
Whether you are into social deduction games or fun party games with great themes, Booze Barons is both! I would encourage you to check out their Kickstarter campaign.
And if this looks like it might be your cup of moonshine, please join me in backing with confidence, knowing that you’re getting a top-shelf game; not to mention all the stretch goal extras that just won’t be available when it hits store shelves.
Raise your cups, and join me in making the backstabbing, moonshining, smuggling operations of the prohibition a thing of the present!
