Hey all! We arrived safely in Indiana yesterday morning and checked into the hotel and got set up by evening. After dinner and catching up with friends (and trying out Sun King Brewery‘s Drink On And Prosper Ale!) we returned to the hotel for some much needed rest. We woke up early today to get our badges and get our game on! Here are some highlights of the day.
One of the bigger stops we made today was at the Calliope Games booth. We got to check out a new game they are showing off called Thieves. This card game places you with stolen goods, and you have to outsmart the cops and make your getaway before too many cops show up! Keep an eye on us for a mini preview of this game in the upcoming weeks.
They had an awesome display there of Tsuro before it was Tsuro, as well as a sampling of player tokens that came in various versions of Tsuro that were sold worldwide. We were also informed that a special edition of Tsuro is coming soon (and will retail for approximately $300) that will feature new intricate player tokens, a silk board, and more.
We also got to chat with the guys from Thunderbox Entertainment about the Tsuro app they have developed! It is beautiful and has very minimal interface – it really looks as though you are playing a board game. You even have to slide off the box top in the app!
Devious Weasel Games
The company that brought you Shadows of Malice is back and they have a new expansion, Seekers of a Hidden Light. James Felli (the creator) is there and is really excited to show you how to play his game so if you are at the con, go check him out in booth #2533.
Stopped by G33k & Co (creators of the children’s book, Surreal Mother Geek) and chatted with them. They’ve got some awesome dice bags and a new book called Mother Geek’s Fantastical Fables. If you’ve got little ones, I recommend you stop by and check out their books and accessories!
Stopped by Greenbrier Games and got a quick demo in of Fairytale Games: The Battle Royale. That game looks awesome and we are hoping to get in a full game before the con is over. Also poked around at Privateer Press to check out the new board game, The Undercity.
We saw a lot of newer game companies that we’ll be talking with more in future days so hang around!
Grabbed some lunch at the Spice Box Indy food truck out on Georgia Street, picked up some freebies throughout the con like cards and pins, and picked up some small teaser game packs from Thames & Kosmos Games.
We got some gaming in back at the hotel in the evening. Played DC Comics Rivals Batman vs. Joker, Batman Fluxx, and Machi Koro. It was the first time we got a chance to play Machi Koro and we fell in love!
