It has been a slow week around the office, as we are adjusting to some new work schedules and doing some prep for Gen Con. We hope this week has been good with gaming, though we were delivered the sad news of Christopher Lee’s death. Here is your tabletop Quick News for this week:

Announcements and Releases

  • More information is available now for Valley of the Kings: Afterlife on the AEG product page. This stand-alone expansion for the mini deck building game is set to release this summer.
  • Z-MAN Games has announced Beyond Baker Street, a deduction card game with no release date yet.

  • Another Z-MAN Games release, set for Gen Con, is Code of Nine. You can read the description and some details of this mystery deduction game on its product page.
  • Marina Sirtis, the actor that played Star Trek’s Deanna Troi, will be making a guest appearance at Gen Con this year!

  • Remember flicking paper footballs across the lunch table at school? Check out Cosmic Kaboom – flick your spaceships across the board to collect resources to send (flick) bombs to other locations and blow up your opponents.
  • Check out Epic Card Game by the same guy that brought you Star Realms.
  • Helionox is a deck-building game that uses movement to fight for control of the solar system!

Other Interesting Articles And Finds

  • Someone made a Blueprints birthday cake!
  • A small discussion about variant rules for D&D are posted to their blog – note that these new rules won’t be valid in organized play.
  • Find out more about dwarves in the just-released Pathfinder Tales novel, Forge of Ashes.
  • The Court of Owls models for the Batman miniatures games are now available!

  • The FTC got involved with a failed Kickstarter project, The Doom That Came to Atlantic City. It is an interesting, and sad, read. TLDR; Don’t spend money earned via Kickstarter on anything other than delivering your product.
  • Found this cool video about checking the balance of your d20’s and why your dice might be constantly rolling low, or high.

What We’re Playing

  • Most of the games played this week were with the Geekling. Raine has started a new job that has occupied a lot of time.
  • Raine has, however, been working on a lot of miniature painting, and is laying groundwork for some more original content pieces to share with you all soon.

We have a schedule lined up for next week and you’ll see activity on our Instagram and social media pages with updates on what we are up to! We hope you have a great week ahead of you, and as always, happy gaming!
