Golem Arcana players have a lot to be happy about since last week. Harebrained Schemes announced and released an update for Golem Arcana that has added all sorts of new bells and whistles to the game. Most of the update was to ensure ease of play for players, but there’s a couple of treats in there that make the game much more interesting for veterans.
First up, Golem Arcana now supports up to 8 players in-app. This means you can have super crazy Golem battles on your table that will create war stories for the ages. Adding to this, multiplayer scenarios are now included in the main scenario list and you can also create your own. That’s right – the next addition to the app is the ability to create your own scenarios. Players can choose their tiles, add victory conditions, set deploy zones, and much more. Then you can play your custom scenarios with friends or take them out to events to try them out!
What’s more is that you can build your own armies and save them right within the app. What this does is save your armies for ease of use when playing/joining games. You can even load your armies when playing at a friend’s place by signing in to your account. Are you somewhere without wifi? No problem! You can now have your army transferred via a QR code that your buddy can scan with his device. For step-by-step instructions on this, check out the post on the Golem Arcana website.
Adding to the creativity, players can now customize their own banners to fly in battle. While in the army building screen you can tap on the “Edit Banner” button at the top right to add the shape, pattern, color, and sigil to your banner so everyone will know your might across the battlefield. It reminds me of the banner creation system from Diablo III, and I love messing around with it. If you’re anything like me, your banner will change quite often!
Finally, there have been some changes to the home screen to help with ease of play. Here’s a list of the changes:
The Options Menu has moved and now has its own button in the upper right hand corner . This button gives you access to the Stylus Manager and a new Volume-adjustment Slider.
Quick Game is for players who just want to play with minimal setup, and get right to the action. Pick a scenario, set up your map and golems, play!
Battle offers all the customization options that are available, and introduces a new way for other players to join your game without needing a wifi/internet connection, (see: QR Army Transfer/Login above).
Build is where you’ll find the creation tools for your Armies and Scenarios.
Events is a quick way to browse and join an Emissary or HBS-hosted event, (like our upcoming Competitive Play League ).
With all of these new changes reshaping the Golem Arcana app, it’s becoming even more of a great game to play. In fact, I was up late last night working on custom scenarios to play at events. I just can’t get enough of Golem Arcana, and neither can the community! That being said, our review for the game will be coming very soon! For more information on these changes, check out the Golem Arcana website.
