The time has finally come soldiers. Since the dawn of man war has been in our blood. Since we’ve reached to the stars we’ve created many enemies. Even so, none were prepared for when the Covenant attacked. Our people were spread thin. The Spartan Project was all that saved us from an impending doom like no other, and we have remained in balance with the universe since Master Chief made his many sacrifices to keep us protected.
I remember when I first played Halo. I was sitting in the basement of my friend John’s house and he passed a controller right into my lap. “I need some help with this game,” he said. When the image came on the screen I was hooked, hopelessly, and happily. I’ve been playing tabletop wargames for years, and honestly I never thought I’d see this day. Spartan Games, the creators of Planetfall and Firestorm Armada, today has announced a partnership with Microsoft to release a tabletop wargame licensed for the Halo series. That’s right, read all that again: a Halo tabletop wargame is coming.
The game will be hitting tabletops later this year, as all the licensing and agreement guidelines have already been set in place. Neil Fawcett, Creative Director, Spartan Games said “Our design team are huge fans of ‘Halo’ and this opportunity is the icing on the cake for them. After six years of successfully creating our own games and models, we can now work with Microsoft to bring epic ‘Halo’ spaceship battles to gaming tables around the world. And if that’s not enough, we’re making fast and furious ground combat games as well. Hard to tell what is more exciting: invading Reach with our Covenant Fleet or assaulting ground defences with Spartans and UNSC Marines?”
I am terribly excited and I cannot wait to see this game hit the community. You can take a quick look at each of the initial sets below. Who will you take up arms with? I know I’ll be right alongside the UNSC!
