Well, folks, here we are. We’re just one day away from pre-registration for Gen Con 2015. It feels like just yesterday I was leaving the convention, saying goodbye to all my friends and acquaintances, and preparing for the big road trip out here to Texas.
We already received word that registration was changing up a bit for this year, and with that being said Gen Con is already gearing up to put together another great show this year. Whenever I start thinking about Gen Con I’m filled with this happiness that just lights me up. I think about all the amazing people I’ll meet, the relationships I’ll build upon, the great games I’ll play, and the amazing sights I’ll see along the way. I start thinking about what I want to do, where I want to stay, and everything else that comes with attending the convention.
In short, I’m already planning for my Gen Con 2015.
Kae and I will be applying for our press badges this Friday, and in doing that we’ve started setting things up for our trip this year. If you read my blog from last year you’d know that we originally set things up to stay at a hotel attached to the convention center, but we ended up changing our minds due to the trip out here to Texas. This year we’re making big plans and I’m totally excited. We’ve laid out our hotel plans and this year we’ve cemented that we’ll be staying in a hotel attached to the convention center. This will just make so many things easier for us. The only issue with this up front, however, is the new registration process. I’m hoping that press registration will be as easy as planned and it’ll go alongside normal registration as promised.
If we can’t, for whatever reason, get press badges in a reasonable time, our housing plans will go out the window. Since we’ll be driving up from Texas, staying attached will make almost everything about the trip easier. Here’s to hoping it works out.
Along with our housing plans we’re working on what we actually want to do this year. We’re kicking around the idea of another seminar, of course we want to play games, and we want to attend some great events. One of our goals this year is more photo/video coverage, and I think we did a great job of that last year. It’s definitely improved from year to year.
On top of all this I’m working on my cosplay ideas for this year. I made a deal with a publisher and I’ll be cosplaying something specifically for them one day at each convention I go to from now on, and Gen Con will start this new tradition. Honestly I’m happy about it, but I won’t reveal exactly what it is yet. I’m wondering if I should take an already-made cosplay out or if I should work on a new one. I’ve got one in mind and it won’t be too hard. When it gets closer to con time and I’ve got more of a solid idea I’ll post about it.
For now we’re working on some exciting stuff for the con and trying to get out housing squared away. Of course, we want to see you there and play some great games with you this year. Maybe we’ll set a block of time and dedicate it to hanging with you, outside of a seminar, maybe in a game hall or something? What do you all think?
As we get closer to Gen Con 2015 we’ll be rolling out more details and such, and I just can’t wait. Are you making plans yet? Are you planning for any traditions this year? Whatever you’re doing, we hope to meet, see, and enjoy a great con with you this year!
