While at BGG Con, attendees are given special codes to use to vote for games that they are enjoying playing at the convention, and this system is called GeekBuzz. While many titles fought for a space on the board, gamers saw large numbers of games slide across the ever changing screen in the lobby between the exhibition hall and open gaming. The computers were taken down and final top 10 were called on Sunday afternoon, and the results were as following :
Castles of Mad King Ludwig is a tile laying game in which you are tasked by the King to create the best castle of all time. You’ve got some impressive competition, as the King himself designed the inspiration for Disney’s castles, Neuschwanstein. Castles of Mad King Ludwig comes to your table from Bezier Games, Inc.
Mysterium is a game currently only available in Polish, but in truth, the text of your copy matters not. Quite reminiscent of Dixit, Mysterium is a cooperative game in which one player, a ghost, gives the other players clues to eliminate weapons, locations, and people associated with the ghost’s murder. Mysterium is coming to the US by Portal Games.
Royals is a card game in which players take on the roles of leaders of noble houses in the 17th century. Fight for supremacy by amassing the most influence over 3 rounds to take the win! Royals comes from ABACUSSPIELE.
Five Tribes is a fast to learn worker placement game by Days of Wonder that got quite a buzz on the exhibit hall floor, and was seen on a lot of open gaming tables throughout the con. Workers begin on the board as players try to scatter the five tribes fighting for power after the Sultan has passed away.
Alchemists combines tabletop and digital by mixing up standard game play approach. You play an alchemist trying to mix up potions and elixirs, the results of which are determined through a smartphone testing lab! Alchemists comes from Cranio Creations.
Colt Express is a game in which you and other players take on the role of bandits trying to rob a train! In Schemin’ and Stealin’ phases, try to amass more wealth than the other robbers and become the richest outlaw! Colt Express comes to us from Asmodee.
Splendor came in and #7, a game of card development, gem collection, and prestige. Cards increase your wealth, and players can reserve cards to ensure that other players can’t steal them. First player to amass 15 prestige wins! Splendor is made by Space Cowboys.
Dead of Winter : A Crossroads Game by Plaid Hat Games had constant games running this weekend. Survivors team up to form camps, collect resources, and stay alive. Each player leads a group of people and their choices will drastically affect the outcome of the game.
Deus is a game in which you build a new civilization by raising up buildings, making offerings to your gods, and defeating barbarian towns. A shared environment sets the stage for all players to build these civilizations. Deus is made by Pearl Games.
Regnum Angelica is a card game in which Fallen and Arch Angels battle from their own realms to that of their opponent, crossing Earth for bonuses throughout the game. With mirrored decks, the unique combat system makes the game very similar to chess, so the winner is determined by skill and strategy, not by how much money the deck holder spent. Regnum Angelica is from Black Locust Games.
