World of Yo-Ho! A Game That Turns Your Smart Phone Into A Ship

world of yo ho

Game Company iELLO launched a project on Kickstarter recently featuring a board game that brings the physical game board to the table, and you bring the pawns – I mean, your phones! A free app with World of Yo-Ho transforms your phone into a ship capable of sailing the seas! You can choose to be an honest merchant or a scurvy seadog, and your phone will allow you to keep inventory and set up special attacks and defenses from the other pirates on the board.

There are many modes of play including campaign, cruising just to explore the board, and a solo player mode. In solo, you can even use a tablet, and use actual ship pawns to represent your opponents. There are videos on the page demonstrating game play, phone orientation, and more information on how the phone app brings new dimension to the game!

This project will be on Kickstarter until November 28th and has a delivery estimate of July 2015. There are many levels to choose from including a blister pack version of the game, full boxed game, collector’s editions, and more. If you have a gaming group that could benefit from using their phones in tabletop gaming instead of pulling them out during play time and slowing down the game, this game could be great for you. I’m looking forward to seeing this game on the table and how it is received in the gaming world!
