Role playing games have long existed with pen and paper, though having access to these games digitally to bring more players together with the same system is very appealing. Christian Muckler has designed a new Science Fiction RPG called Ultimum that hopes to do that. Ultimum allows a tremendous amount of flexibility and customization when it comes to character class and race, including many that have not been included in other RPG’s before. Not only that, but Ultimum will be available via apps for Android and iOS products, and also for PC.
The idea is that players can interact with other, still using dice rolls for their stats, and that the apps won’t distract from the richness of a social game around a table. The PC version will allow players to interact over a general base world, but have the freedom to create their own custom servers to invite friends to, enabling customized worlds and environments. Modules will be made available for players to refer to or print for their table games as well. The Kickstarter page outlines where the money from this project is going so that he funding goal makes sense.
You can get an early release of the game’s Core Rulebook PDF and access to the game’s app for just a $30 pledge, and the pledge levels increase to $30, $50, and so on, to include more benefits, including a $100 GM level which includes a screen, initiative track, and all other perks of the previous pledge levels. Ultimum will be on Kickstarter until December 13th, giving gamers a long time to think about how the game may enrich their gaming experiences.
