Battle Your Friends in Last One Standing, A Competitive RPG Now On Kickstarter

Last One Standing

Have you ever been playing with your friends in a session of your favorite tabletop RPG when one of them does something that makes you want to throttle them? Have you ever wanted to bring your blade down on the elf rogue because he stole a bunch of loot, got caught up in a lie, and refused to share it with the party? I know I have, but in most tabletop RPGs player versus player gameplay can get brutal an even break the game.

That’s not the case with Last One Standing. In fact, it’s the whole premise behind the game. With a synopsis that seems to have been modeled after The Hunger Games, Last One Standing pits you up against your friends in a guts-for-glory competition to be, well, the last one standing in the end. The game includes tons of pre-generated content so players can pick it up and run with it in very little time. Players will choose their characters and find themselves in one of many different arenas spread out across the world – from mountainous landscapes to looming cities. Inside these arenas will be various types of weapons and locations with which players can – and will – use against one another.

Behind the scenes is a Director, a person that is literally pulling the strings of the contest. This person can add in all sorts of events, new weapons, and just about anything you can think of to keep the action at an all-time high. After all, this competition is being televised, and you don’t want to come out with bad ratings!

The game is now on Kickstarter, and with a couple of weeks to go it’s nearly funded. You can download a free version of the game for yourself and give it a shot before you pledge, and putting down $25 will get you the print version of the game including any stretch goals that apply. I like the idea behind the game, and with so much pre-generated content you can play game after game without worrying about losing too much if you don’t make it out alive. The game’s something that falls within the vein of Fiasco, but with more emphasis on combat. If you’re looking to find an RPG that’ll let you best your friends, Last One Standing is sure to fit the bill!
