You’ve fallen down, down the rabbit hole, and this whole thing seems awfully familiar. You see a small table with a box where you expect to see a potion; instead of the familiar bottle with a “Drink Me” tag, the box simply says “PlayMe”. Wonderdice-Ludibooster has put together a Kickstarter to fund a dice game taking you through an adventure to escape from Wonderland, but it will not be a walk in the park!
Players must roll a series of dice and create a line of dice numbered 1 – 6, but can only “keep” one dice per roll, and dice must be “kept” in proper order. For example, if your first roll contains a 1, 2, and 4, you may keep the 1. If your second roll doesn’t contain a 2, you must keep rolling before you can place another dice. You can, however, “block” another player. If their next number to get is 3, and you roll a 3 before they do, you can place your colored dice on their play area. To unblock this, that player has to roll a 3 of their own. If they do, they remove your dice, but must continue rolling – getting that 3 only unblocks the player. The first to get all 6 numbers slaps the rabbit hole in the center of the board and wins the game! There is a way to make the game semi-cooperative as well, and it includes the dreaded Jabberwocky.
I think that PlayMe has a lot of potential for a highly re-playable game. It is for 2-6 players, and a pledge of $30 gets you the game. You can pledge for add-ons that will get you some cool accessories and decor, especially if you’re a fan of Alice in Wonderland. The project page includes some how-to-play videos and a review from Cardboard Castaway. If you like Alice in Wonderland, I’d check this game out. I like games that are fast, and I like the semi-cooperative option. PlayMe fast for your chance to escape Wonderland
