Saar Shai Is Back Again With King Down On Kickstarter

king down

The king has died, and the throne sits empty. As word spreads, champions come from all corners of the land to prove their rightful claim to the throne. The motivations of the four kings-to-be are Greed, Honor, Blood, and Glory. From the creator of The Agents, Saar Shai describes King Down as the prequel to chess in an epic battle using cards and miniatures that uses many familiar mechanics from chess but with new twists and rules.

The Kickstarter project is already funded, and looks like it will be a major success, considering it still has a month to go. You can get Kickstarter exclusive base camps and prisons as well as all stretch goals with a $65 pledge, and the higher you pledge, the better the rewards get. The project page has lots of photos of concept art and some printed models that can be inspected for miniature fiends. Many of the classic chess pieces have been renamed and reimagined for King Down.

Stretch goals include new poses for the figures, new cards, Prince figures, and upgraded packaging for the game. It is well on its way to knocking out those goals, and I think this is a project to keep your eyes on. Add-ons include badges, polystone figurines of some of the game models, and a chance to get The Agents, Saar Shai’s Kickstarter success from 2013. Check out the project page and all the awesome pictures and see what you think!
