One of Raine's biggest hobbies has always been gaming. It all started with an Atari and spread out to Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: the Gathering, and Dungeons & Dragons. As an artist, Raine takes pride in painting models for games as well as making his own terrain. He's also been a writer for many years, working both in the journalism industry and writing pieces of fiction. He decided to create Initiative : Tabletop as a platform to talk about all things gaming that he simply thought were cool, and reviewing games became a part of it!

Fragged Empire Video Preview

Fragged Empire

Not too long ago we touched on a new sci-fi space RPG that was hitting Kickstarter like wildfire. That RPG, called Fragged Empire, was created by Wade Dyer and it picked up fans like you wouldn’t believe. Funding well over the desired $15,000, the Fragged Empire campaign went on to offer more books, a deeper setting, and plenty more for players who wanted to get lost within the world 100 years after the last great war.

We were fortunate to be sent an advanced copy of the game, and with some tabletop magic we printed and bound the book for a short preview. In the video below you’ll see a short overview of what the game is, how it works, and what I think about the beta version as it’s put in front of me. The game has no doubt evolved since the Kickstarter campaign ended, and the final product will be more than what we have here. Still, the basic framework will remain the same and, as I say in the video, I think it does an amazing job at producing exactly what I’ve personally been looking for in a sci-fi RPG adventure.

If you like what you see (and I’m sure you will), there is still time to get your hands on the game by visiting the Kickstarter Backerkit page. It’s time to take to the stars and see what each new star system holds for us. Will you represent the Corporation, Legion, Kaltorans, or Nephilim?

Thanks to Wade Dyer for providing a copy of Fragged Empire for the preview!
