Since then, her interests have broadened with her favorite games including Battlestar Galactica, Pathfinder, Lord of the Rings LCG, WarmaHordes, and more. This week has been a busy week for gaming as well as the folks here at Initiative : Tabletop. Gen Con is speedily approaching, and we are busy getting things in order to provide coverage and insider information. We’ve gathered some things we think you’ll want or need to know about, so check it out!

Announcements and Other Tidbits

  • Ascension’s Summer Sale kicked off this week, giving you 50% off of all of the small box expansions to Ascension! Its a pretty good deal, though the price for overseas shipping is a downer for some customers.
  • These custom Portable Catan Carpets are pretty sweet if you’re a Catan fan. Check them out!
  • Are you a fan of Star Realms? You can participate in a Star Realms Tournament at Gen Con and get a chance to win an iPad and your likeness on a card in future expansions!
  • Dice Tower News announced their Best Games of 2013! Caverna came out on top as the Best Game of 2013, but its fun to check out the games that won awards for other categories, as well as check out the runner ups.
  • The next expansion to Z-MAN Games’ game, Prophecy, has been announced! Prophecy: Water Realms will bring new cards and variants to the game, though you will need a base game to play.
  • Gamers must fight sea and flame with the next two expansions for Dungeon Fighter! Fantasy Flight Games announced that Fire At Will and The Big Wave will be crashing into a retailer near you soon.
  • AEG takes a step towards uniting gamers and staff under a common understanding and have announced a Code of Conduct that they hope to uphold as a company providing entertainment for gamers.
  • Android: Netrunner’s final pack in the Lunar Cycle, The Source, has been announced and is set to release late in the 3rd quarter of this year.
  • What is scarier than a Trollblood warcaster? A Trollblood warcaster riding a bear. Neraph joins the Legion of Everblight to fight amongst your other warbeasts. The Gatormen get a new warcaster named Jaga-Jaga, and she’s fought long and hard for her position as high priestess. Finally, Bradigus Thorle is coming to command stone and the elements as a new caster for the forces of Circle Orboros.

Kickstarters

  • Though it ended two days ago, it is worth some time to check out the Treasure Chest Kickstarter! It is now sadly over but it well met its funding goal, and many happy gamers will be receiving wooden treasure boxes full of resource tokens to use for their gaming needs.
  • Interested in treating Victorian monsters and misfits? Check out Gothic Doctor by Meltdown Games. They’ve already funded and still have 13 days to go.

Around the Office

  • We’ve been playing a lot of Magic as usual, and I’m pleased that my Izzet deck is finally becoming fine-tuned.
  • Star Realms has been a buzz around here as of late, both the physical version and playing with the new app on our tablets. If you haven’t checked it out, you can download Star Realms for Android now, and it is coming to iOS and PC shortly.
  • We also got a chance to play Livestock Uprising, a game that is coming soon from Dog Might Games. Stay tuned in future weeks to see more about this hilarious game.

As the date for our official relocation to Texas approaches, we are working to get some reviews done and ready for the upcoming weeks to prevent as much down time as possible. We are finalizing details on our Gen Con seminar and are looking forward to meeting those that have already picked up tickets and sharing our world with you.  Until next week, happy gaming!
