Alderac Entertainment Group has announced another new game in their “pocket games” lineup. This new title by Seiji Hanai is called Say Bye to the Villains, and it puts players in the role of vanquishers who must punish criminals that the law cannot reach. The game is set to be a cooperative card game for 3-8 players that can be played within 45 minutes.
Sometimes the law just cannot hold enough power to stop mastermind villains. That’s where the vanquishers come in – heroes that work from the shadows to crush the villainous threat once and for all. In Say Bye to the Villains each player takes the role of a vanquisher and it will be their duty to punish these villains that think they are above the law. Each villain holds secrets. Some have built a criminal empire and are guarded by many thugs. Others take hostages and make threats to kill them. No matter their plot, these villains must be put down. The vanquishers aren’t all together immortal, however. Ambushing a villain while not being well prepared could spell certain danger to any vanquisher.
Each player will hold a hand of cards that represents their vanquishers skills, special abilities, and preparations for battle. Players will have to strategically use these cards to learn the villain’s secrets and hone their skills for the upcoming encounter. Vanquishers will need to cooperate with each other, as using abilities takes precious time that you don’t always have. Planning correctly will mean victory for the vanquishers, but missing a step could see failure covered in red.
So far I’ve been quite a fan of AEG’s pocket games. I really enjoyed Cheaty Mages, and Card of the Dead. We’ve got a few more titles here at the office in this line of games that we’re currently working on reviewing, and if things continue as they have been with the pocket games lineup I think Say Bye to the Villains could be another great game. It’ll be coming later this summer, so keep your eyes peeled!
