One of Raine's biggest hobbies has always been gaming. It all started with an Atari and spread out to Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: the Gathering, and Dungeons & Dragons. As an artist, Raine takes pride in painting models for games as well as making his own terrain. He's also been a writer for many years, working both in the journalism industry and writing pieces of fiction. He decided to create Initiative : Tabletop as a platform to talk about all things gaming that he simply thought were cool, and reviewing games became a part of it!

Faith & Fortune Expansion and Campaign Packs Announced for Warmachine High Command

Warmachine High Command

High Command – it’s a name that invokes many different emotions here at the office. The deck building game by the company that brought us Warmachine and Hordes, High Command offered different ways to experience battles in the realm of the Iron Kingdoms. Though we tried our hand at both versions of the game, we didn’t find it as enjoyable as some other players in the community. That hasn’t stopped Privateer Press from supporting the game, however, as the company has just announced two new expansion lines for Warmachine High Command.

First up is the Faith & Fortune Expansion. This Core Set expansion will add four new factions for players to take up the banner for: Retribution of Scyrah, Convergence of Cyriss, Highborn Covenant, and the Four Star Syndicate. The expansion will debut at Gen Con 2014 and will be readily available later this fall.

The second expansion set for the game will come in the form of Campaign Packs. These packs will contain new Winds of War and Location cards that will offer a new style of gameplay than that of the base game. The first of these Campaign Packs will be the Invasion of Sul Campaign Pack, and for Hordes High Command we’ll get the Castle of the Keys Campaign Pack. The Invasion of Sul pack will debut at Lock & Load 2014, while Castle of the Keys will be available later this fall.

I’d love to see some life breathed into High Command. It was rated quite high within the first couple of months following its release, but it hasn’t done so well in the community as of late. High Command is a game that I want to be phenomenal, and maybe with some tweaks and updates it could achieve that status. Still, we look forward to seeing what these expansions hold for us when they release later this year. For more info on the releases, check out the video below.
