For years gamers in the south have been left out of the vast greatness that is the Penny Arcade Expo. With PAX events taking place mostly on the coasts, some gamers in the southern regions find it difficult to make it to the events. Beginning in 2015, however, things will change tremendously. During PAX East Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins announced PAX South, a new convention that will take place in San Antonio, Texas.
The event will take place from January 23rd-25th next year at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Earlier this month Robert Khoo teased a new PAX event and now it’s come to be true. Before this announcement three different PAX events take place around the world: PAX Prime in Seattle, PAX East in Boston and PAX Australia in Melbourne. This new event will help tie the two in the US together, meeting right between them.
Khoo announced in a press release:
“Since its launch in 2004, PAX events have doubled in size almost every year, and our Seattle and Boston events represent the two largest gaming festivals in North America. We’ve been hearing for years that those in the south had a tough time making it to the northern corners of the country; PAX South has always been a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if.”
More details are sure to come soon about the event, and if you’re a fan of PAX there’s plenty of reason to feel excitement. As we mentioned earlier, we’re moving our main office out to Texas, so you can expect some coverage straight from the floor. Keep your eyes peeled, and get ready for more great gaming coming soon!
