Paizo Reaches Out For Gen Con 2014 Volunteers [Gen Con 2014]

Paizo Shirt 1b

Gen Con is approaching, and for an event that hosts such a large capacity it takes everyone to make it a successful convention. Paizo is no stranger to Gen Con, and when it comes to putting on great events the company looks no further than the community it helped create. On the Paizo site, the company has just posted their plans, benefits, and need for volunteers to GM at this year’s Best Four Days in Gaming.

Gen Con was definitely a success for Paizo last year. The company set out to make it the biggest event it could be, and over the four days there were 1400 Pathfinder Society tables bring run. The company also held GM workshops for different skill levels and more. This year Paizo hopes to go above and beyond, but to do that they need volunteer help. The company will again be co-sponsoring the event, which means they will return to Sagamore Hall, expanding their playspace size beyond that which they were allowed last year.

At Gen Con this year Paizo plans to schedule 20 different scenarios for players to experience. There will also be two special Gen Con scenarios, one Gen Con exclusive, and two modules. The beginning of Season 6, The Paths We Choose, will kick off Thursday night and take up where Season 5 left off. Here’s a teaser of the description for the event:

At long last, the Pathfinders have reached the lost Sky Citadel Jormurdun only to find it already occupied by fiends and subterranean foes. The Society must mount an epic offense to explore the immense subterranean city while simultaneously driving off the squatters within. If they succeed, the Pathfinders may discover that the greatest prize is not the mountain fortress itself but the treasure that lies at its heart. The adventure concludes Season 5, Year of the Demon.

There are plenty of events scheduled, some of them even geared towards the younglings playing. You can find out more specifics on what’s going to be available by checking out the post on the official Paizo blog. With all these events being put into place, Paizo needs the help of community volunteers to make the convention a success. The company is asking for a minimum of 350 GM volunteers for Pathfinder Society, Beginner Box Introductions, Kids’ Track events, GM 101 and 201, and Pathfinder Adventure Card Game demos. Volunteers that work the event will receive a benefits package that is detailed on the Paizo post. In order to be considered for volunteering, you will need to send an email to Mike Brock from Paizo. In the email you should include:

  • 1) What email is tied to your Gen Con account.
  • 2) What email is tied to your Paizo.com account and what your message board user name is.
  • 3) I need to know if you have received the purple goblin Pathfinder Society volunteer shirts at a previous show. If not, I need to know what size you wear.

If you’re looking to spice up your Gen Con trip, then I’d suggest signing up to volunteer for Paizo events. The rewards are great, and you get to meet a lot of people along the way. Plus, this will secure you a four-day badge to the convention, which is reason enough to sign up! Make sure you send that email quickly, however, because the slots will fill quickly!
