One of Raine's biggest hobbies has always been gaming. It all started with an Atari and spread out to Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: the Gathering, and Dungeons & Dragons. As an artist, Raine takes pride in painting models for games as well as making his own terrain. He's also been a writer for many years, working both in the journalism industry and writing pieces of fiction. He decided to create Initiative : Tabletop as a platform to talk about all things gaming that he simply thought were cool, and reviewing games became a part of it!

Crown of Destiny Hero and Monster Collection Announced for Descent: Second Edition

Crown of Destiny Descent Hero and Monster Pack

The Crown of Destiny is a fabled artifact said to have the power to change a person’s fate, altering the past and twisting the future. The Crown, once lost for many centuries, has finally been found, and those who feel brave enough to confront the chaos surrounding the artifact have the chance to wield such power for themselves. In a new Hero and Monster Collection for Descent: Second Edition, players will be able to seek out the crown for themselves and bring new characters into the fray.

The Crown of Destiny Hero and Monster Collection offers players access to heroes and monster groups that were previously only available in the first edition of Descent. These characters have received completely redesigned figure sculpts and artwork. This expansion offers thirteen figures, including four heroes and nine monsters. Also included are two new quests that send players on a journey for the Crown of Destiny.

Such sweet detail, oh my!

Such sweet detail, oh my!

The four heroes included in this collection are Corbin, Lindel, Jaes the Exile, and Brother Gherinn. These heroes are stalwart, and they bring forth an awesome amount of power that players will most certainly need to get through this new tale. On the darker side of things, the collection includes four lava beetles, two giants, and three of the new terrifying creatures known as chaos beasts. These monsters match the heroes in power, and it will take some cunning strategy to face them and live to tell the tale.

For previews of the heroes and monsters, head on over to the Fantasy Flight post. One thing that I’m especially loving about Descent: Second Edition is the attention to detail on the figure sculpts. Seriously, these figures look fantastic. The new Hero and Monster Collection will only add to the already great range of models, and add more fun for players. I mean, come on, look at those chaos beasts!
