One of Raine's biggest hobbies has always been gaming. It all started with an Atari and spread out to Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: the Gathering, and Dungeons & Dragons. As an artist, Raine takes pride in painting models for games as well as making his own terrain. He's also been a writer for many years, working both in the journalism industry and writing pieces of fiction. He decided to create Initiative : Tabletop as a platform to talk about all things gaming that he simply thought were cool, and reviewing games became a part of it!

Quick News January 31 – February 6

IT Logo 600px New

Friday has come again, and that means it’s time for some Quick News! Today’s a special Quick News day, though, because we’ve got some new announcements concerning the site. But, we’ll get to those in just a little bit. First up is recent announcements in the gaming community!

Mentionable Announcements

  • Fantasy Flight Games just announced that they’ll be releasing a BattleLore Second Edition dice set to compliment the game. The dice are the exact same found in the game, only you can purchase them separately.
  • Privateer Press announced the Rotterhorn Griffin, a model for the Horde. This model will be released in plastic, and looks fantastic.
  • Fantasy Flight Games also announced the Queen Ariad Lieutennant Pack for Descent Second Edition.

What’s New With I:T

If you’re here on the site, you’ve probably noticed that things look a bit different. For many months now I’ve had it in my head that I wanted to get a more professional look for the site, something that fit more of what we’re about. We’ve finally done that, and though it took some work, we’ve got a brand new look that we’re all proud of. The feedback has been great so far, and we’re going to continue to keep pressing forward. We were lucky enough to get a new, redesigned logo from established artist, Patrick Parker. We’re excited to move forward and we hope you’ll stay with us along the way!

  • Jacob and Christina turned up the heat on tabletop gaming this week, as they managed to get Takenoko, Magic: the Gathering, Sentinels of the Multiverse, Ticket to Ride, and Chipleader out for some play.
  • Kae and I finally busted out the World of Warcraft Miniatures Game (which is a TON of fun) and Magic: the Gathering.

We’ve still got plenty going on here at the office, and soon we’ll have a big announcement to make. We’re waiting for all the bad weather and snow to leave us so we can get back to what we feel like is normal, though it’s provided more time for gaming! Gen Con is coming, and we’re making a lot of plans. There’s plenty of excitement in the air, so stay tuned!
