One of Raine's biggest hobbies has always been gaming. It all started with an Atari and spread out to Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: the Gathering, and Dungeons & Dragons. As an artist, Raine takes pride in painting models for games as well as making his own terrain. He's also been a writer for many years, working both in the journalism industry and writing pieces of fiction. He decided to create Initiative : Tabletop as a platform to talk about all things gaming that he simply thought were cool, and reviewing games became a part of it!

Quick News January 13 – 17

Initiative Tabletop Group

Things have been quite busy here in the I : T offices as of late. We’ve gone through some rearrangement to help make our office more functional, and things are quite up in the air. We’ve still got plenty of games to review, which means more content will be coming your way in 2014. With the new year coming we’ve pledged to offer more content than the last year, and with con season starting up we’re right in the middle of the waves. A lot of news will be surfacing in the community with the con season rolling in, so stay tuned and we’ll do our best to bring everything you need to know!

  • Fantasy Flight Games has just released six resin house cards for use with the Game of Thrones Living Card Game.
  • A new Data Pack, True Colors, is available for Android: Netrunner from Fantasy Flight Games.
  • Team Covenant has released their second wave of templates for Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures.

News Chits and Bits

  • Fat Dragon Games has started another Kickstarter campaign, this time for their Ravenfell fantasy scenery.

What We’ve Got On the Table

  • Jacob and Christina surely haven’t let work or snow keep them down. So far they’ve managed to get in time with more of The Resistance, Caverna, Le Havre, Abandon Ship, Takenoko, Terra Mystica, and many more games.
  • Kae and I have been working hard to get games back to the table. Lately we’ve been immersed in The Hobbit Strategy Battle Game. As always, we’re still playing Warmachine regularly along with Jacob and Christina! On top of this we cracked open Caverna and Cheaty Mages, so be on the lookout for reviews soon!

As always we hope you’ve had a great week of gaming. We’d love to hear what you’ve been playing, so we want to open up submissions for fan content here on the site! If you’ve played a game during the week that you feel deserves some recognition, send us an email with a summary of your experience/thoughts on it and we’ll be sure to get it into our Quick News post on Fridays! Thanks for sticking with us, and until next week, Happy Gaming everyone!
