One of Raine's biggest hobbies has always been gaming. It all started with an Atari and spread out to Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: the Gathering, and Dungeons & Dragons. As an artist, Raine takes pride in painting models for games as well as making his own terrain. He's also been a writer for many years, working both in the journalism industry and writing pieces of fiction. He decided to create Initiative : Tabletop as a platform to talk about all things gaming that he simply thought were cool, and reviewing games became a part of it!

Black Locust Games Adds Foam Tray Insert for Kingdom

I’m not regularly awed by things I see on Kickstarter, but every now and then a game comes along that just sweeps me off my feet. I’ve written about a few in the past, but recently a game has come along that’s gotten us all here at the office in an uproar. That game is Kingdom: the Angelic War Card Game. We covered this last week right when the Kickstarter went live, but there’s been an update to the campaign that makes the deal even sweeter.

Black Locust Games has just announced that there will be a full foam tray insert included with the game to hold all of its components. I am a severe stickler for storage solutions in games – I’ve mentioned it before as well. When I open up a game that’s got an insert that caters to its components, I just get all warm inside. Black Locust has worked hard to develop something that would fit the game right, and this is what they’ve come up with:

From the update, we learn a bit more about the insert:

Aaron and I are happy to announce that early this morning we achieved our first stretch goal! Gone away is the normal cardboard game insert (yawn). Hello elegant foam insert to add another polish point to what we hope you think is an already beautiful game! Below is a concept image that we will be submitting to Panda Game Manufacturing for the beautiful foam insert and keep in the mind the design is subject to change as hopefully more stretch goals are unlocked.

Kingdom has 38 days to go and the campaign is near halfway funded. I’d really like to see this game make it through, so go check it out for yourselves. While you’re at it, check out the story behind the game. The second chapter is releasing tomorrow, so read the first one as soon as you can!
