Wizards of the Coast has just announced that the new rules system for Dungeons & Dragons will be released during the Summer of 2014. These rules have been in playtesting stages for the past two years, and more than 175,000 players shared in playtests all across the country. Finally, the rules are complete and players can now enjoy rich storytelling experiences across multiple gaming platforms.

“Just like a perfectly balanced party, Wizards has worked cohesively with fans, designers and partners to create the next generation of D&D,” said Nathan Stewart, Brand Director for Dungeons & Dragons. “We whole-heartedly thank all of the play test participants, whose feedback has proven instrumental in shaping the future of Dungeons & Dragons.”

Coming early next year, more information about this new ruleset will be available. From what we’ve seen so far, WotC has really put a lot of work into this new set to really make it something for fans to enjoy. I personally dislike 4th Edition D&D and have made the move to Pathfinder, but I still enjoy 3.5 whenever I can. Let’s hope the new ruleset can pick up older players and get them back into the exciting world we’ve been adventuring in for years.
