Stories of Legend – The History of the New Magic: the Gathering Commanders 2013

Magic: the Gathering is quite a fun game, and there’s a reason why it’s one of the most popular trading card games in the world. What many don’t know, however, is that there’s a long-running story that connects each set in the game together. Whether you’re talking about the plane of Ravnica or the metallic air of Mirrodin, creatures and entities from each of the planes have their own story.

With the release of Commander 2013, we get five brand new Commander decks to toy with. All together, we’ll see ten different Commanders coming from these decks – two for each one. These Commanders each have their own unique story, and Wizards of the Coast just posted all of them today.

We won’t steal Wizards’ thunder, so you can go check out each little story on their official post. What I will do, however, is talk about which Commander I like so far out of them all. Personally, I am finding myself drawn to the Shattergang Brothers. I don’t know why they’ve decided to make these guys red/black/green, but they stick out for me. I’d much rather see them in red/blue/black, so I am curious as to how decks will be made around them. Their card was illustrated by Kev Walker, an artist of whom I am a big fan. Plus, I just love Ravnica, so this is a plus. Head on over to the Wizards post and then tell us which Commander is your favorite!
