In 2011, a new game was brought into the gaming market by Heartland Consumer Products and Carmelyn Calvert called Square Shooters. Square Shooters is a set of nine dice with its faces bearing a card suit and number. The game has been on the market for 18 months now and has sold over 200,000 copies. A new gaming system has been introduced to gamers with this set of dice, as it allows countless card games to take on a new approach. With the design arrangement, it is possible to roll all types of hands that you’d see in a card game, such as rummy run, every four-of-a-kind, and all 40 royal/straight flush combinations on its faces.
While the game was produced with its own set of rules, Square Shooters dice can be used in many ways to replace cards, use with cards, have new components added or act as dice that would come in any other game. In the fourth quarter of this year, a contest is being held to allow gamers to design their own game based off of these dice. Once judged, the best overall game designs will be awarded with cash/cash value, products, and some publishing for the winning design.
