One of Raine's biggest hobbies has always been gaming. It all started with an Atari and spread out to Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: the Gathering, and Dungeons & Dragons. As an artist, Raine takes pride in painting models for games as well as making his own terrain. He's also been a writer for many years, working both in the journalism industry and writing pieces of fiction. He decided to create Initiative : Tabletop as a platform to talk about all things gaming that he simply thought were cool, and reviewing games became a part of it!

CorSec Introduces Fabric Mat 2.0

One of the things that makes miniatures games interesting are the accessories that help you immerse yourself into the game. For both Firestorm Armada and the Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game I set out and created my own felt play mats that I could put on the table to help provide scenery when playing the game. When it comes to gaming like this, it’s all about being as involved in the game as possible.

CorSec Engineering knows this importance, and they’ve introduced their new Fabric Mat 2.0, which is a completely updated version of their previous space fabric mats. The new mat has a much clearer image, and it’s also a bit cheaper than the previous mats they offered. The fleece used to make the mats is compatible to felt, though it doesn’t fray like the felt does.

The new mat is also machine washable, which wasn’t possible with the old mats because of the risk of fading.  This will help keep pesky stains off the mats, but as a general rule you shouldn’t be eating or drinking over the gaming area anyway. That’s my policy.

You can grab one of these mats for $69.99, though some things have changed. Now the mats will be shipped directly from the printer to the customer. This means that you can’t mix mat orders in with other items from the CorSec store. In celebration of the mats, CorSec is offering free shipping to all customers within the U.S. If you’re looking to pick up a nice fabric mat to play your space-themed miniatures games on, this may be what you’re looking for.
